The Heat Wave

I cancelled my trip to New Albany yesterday because of the heat. I don't know what happened to June, which is usually a warm month but this is August heat. Yesterday, I really hadn't planned to leave until mid-day because I had some writing to do. Then I went by to visit an old friend in town first. So, when I left her house, it was one o'clock and I had to turn on the max a/c in the car and it still didn't cool off much. Plus I got stuck at a train track and I got so sweaty, I decided all I wanted to do was go home and get out of the heat. I am hoping this coming weekend will be a little cooler because I've got to make a trip to Tuscumbia, Alabama to spend the day with Beverly and Edna, two writing buddies whom I've known forever. I look forward to seeing them but not traveling in this heat!

I am happy that I got the final polish done on my novella and it is ready to be submitted tomorrow. This afternoon I'm going to look at a couple of other projects I have in the works. I will probably write Laid To Rest first because it will be short and fun. I also need to make a decision about the outlaw book and do some market research while I'm at it.

This heat is unbelievable for June. And just think, May and the first of June was unseasonably cool and wet. It's like we jumped from late winter to dog days.
