Opening Line

Although I didn't do any writing yesterday, my short story, Laid To Rest, has been whirling around in my mind ever since it took root. Demanding I put pen to paper. I've made a few notes about it. It is not going to be a story about three sisters going to a funeral as I had planned. Nope, it took a different route. It appears it is still going to be a comedy and the narrator is a guy in jail. Maybe. The thing about creativity is that you never know where it will take you in the end. However, I do know Clifford Earl is the dead guy and I've got the opening line.

Mayor Clifford Earl Stroud, II died the way no politician wants to die--on top of a woman who was not his wife.

The first line is all I have and it may change. However, I did come up with the "other" woman's name while I was waiting at a red light today. Nadine Trotter.
