A few days ago, I left work on my way home via Shiloh Road. By 5, it was almost dusk and I saw what appeared to be horses on the side of the road. As I got closer, I saw there was rider on one horse with a pack horse behind him. The rider had on a cowboy hat and when I passed by him, I looked in my rear view mirror and I thought he looked like somebody out of a movie. In this area, we have a lot of Civil War re-enactments so I figured he might be one of those guys.As it turned out, he wasn't. He attracted a lot of attention locally and many people took pictures of him, including the local newspaper which featured him in the Sunday edition. He actually is a cowboy on his way to New Mexico from Michigan, traveling on horseback with his dog. This was certainly an amazement to everyone.
In the past, he wouldn't have been an odd sight. He would have been a stranger passing through. A man who chose to saddle up and head to new territory, without being concerned about his 401K or credit rating. Wow, I thought that freedom was long gone...looks like I was wrong. Good luck, John Wayne (That is his name)

John Wayne! That made me smile ;) Loved this story!!
What a great story! I love it. What freedom. Of course it leaves me wondering where he bunks down for the night? I can just see him going through the McDonald's. What freedom though.
Running late on my writing check in. Looks like I'll be up late tonight. Hope you had a good day and a good night writing.
