Appaloosa

Appaloosa gets 4 stars from me. I really enjoyed this movie starring Ed Harris and Viggo Mortenson. Ed Harris was also the director. It is a story of friendship set in the Old West. Virgil (Harris)is a town marshal for hire/gunfighter and Everett (Viggo)is his partner. One thing I loved was the excellent dialogue between those two characters and the humor. Renee Zelwegger (sp?) plays the mysterious widow who comes to town and wins Virgil's heart. I don't know, she looked terrible in a red wig. Also her character was a self-centered woman who used men so it was hard to comprehend Virgil's unending love for her regardless of what she did. I think his relationship with her may be the reason this movie was not as popular as it could have been because she wasn't admirable. In the end, you know she doesn't really love him and eventually she'll move on. I enjoyed watching the DVD extras for historical background and how they created the town of Appaloosa.

Is it out on DVD already? Oh, snap! I've got to get my other netflix movies back in the mail. Those people make a mint off of me. I think I've had these particular ones since before Thanks Giving. I'm such a bad girl.
*sigh*

I'm looking for a short story contest to enter. There was one that cost 45 to enter, and I thought it might be better to enter one that is free, but offers some exposure. I need something to get me going. Do you know of anything?
