And The Oscar Goes To...

Heath Ledger! For a stunning performance. The Joker was an insanely humorous criminal. A nightmare which represented the darkness we all possess and struggle to overcome. As an actor, Ledger had command of his audience. I was in a packed theater and I can't explain it, but there was an electricity that went through the crowd whenever he appeared on screen. It is a little while in the beginning before the Joker comes on stage and I could tell he was the one character everyone was waiting to appear. He did not disappoint either. His twisted character with a sense of humor was an instant hit. Especially with the pencil stunt.

The rest of the cast is great too and this is a good movie. There are some surprises. Some major characters are killed and I was surprised by that. Of course, Christian Bale looked terrific as playboy Wayne, and he has his sidekicks,
Alfred and Fox, who also add humor.

But, overall, the thing that sticks is the Joker's "Let's put a smile on that face".

Oh, goodness! I am going to see it this weekend with General Jack. I watched a show on History Channel last night about Batman. It was so good, I started taking notes! LAUGHING. Working on the new Block 1. But today I think I'll lay around and do nothing, watch a movie. Piddle. It's hot as a Baptist Hell! LOL!

I'm glad you posted about this, Patricia. What I found most interesting about his character is that he had no definable past. His story kept changing, thus making him a total mystery.

The Oscar definitely goes to Heath Ledger. I was saddened when he died, but my life goes on. But, after seeing this movie, I realize what a much deeper loss it was. I've seen him in several movies, but his last two were nothing short of amazing. If I hadn't seen him in anything before Brokeback, you couldn't have convinced me that he or Jake weren't wasn't gay. And Jack Nicolson, who fancies himself as the greatest actor of our time, looked like a rank amateur next to the performance Ledger turned in. It's hard to dress up like a clown and be respected and feared. I could go on and on, and I might just have to post about it too.
